Elitecycling training camps are coached.

In a nutshell, this is the difference we make.

Our coaches provide training plans in advance of the camp to meet your goals, aspirations and needs during your time away with us; every ride is accompanied by a qualified coach who offers individual guidance on your technique, efficiency, effort and skills. We follow this up with informal discussions back at the hotel in the evening, a time for talking through how you are doing. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, building fitness for a sportive or charity ride or preparing for a racing season, our coaches have been there and done it. They know how to support minds as well as the physical stuff. We believe a training camp is more than putting in the miles; it’s about progressing with confidence. You’ll finish the week a better cyclist.

We are based at Albir on the Costa Blanca, Spain. This small town offers a great base for exploring the beautiful natural reserves and inland orange groves that are somewhat hidden behind the busier tourist resorts to the south. The old town of Althea is nearby, a lovely spot for a wander along the promenade and a favourite for our last evening meal. We’ve seen many pro teams training here, and our 4* hotel the Albir Playa is used by Trek Sagefredo and Lotto Jumbo. If it’s good enough for Fabian Cancellera… The lovely roads, coastal stretches and hilly climbs make this location perfect for training in a warm climate. And post ride recovery is flat out - in the spa complex or poolside with an ice cream

Base Training Camp

28 January – 4 February 2017

Our base training camp includes lots of volume, perfect for that early season fitness to enhance your winter training.

Each day we provide a range of rides to suit differing needs and aspirations, and encourage movement between groups over the week to maximise progression for each participant.

All rides are fully coached, focusing on effective group riding techniques, development of individual skills and efficiency in managing and sustaining effort. We can provide an individual training plan provided you sign up at least 6 weeks before departure, and offer feedback on personal goals (eg. power output, endurance training, race preparation and improving performance).

  • Varying lengths of ride and terrain – all on great roads, panoramic vistas, with an emphasis on riding like a pro
  • Enjoy rides between 60-120 kms depending on group ability levels
  • Maximise efficiency, pace and challenge whilst riding in a group
  • Structured focus on specific areas of performance you want to work on here and throughout your season
  • Recover during the afternoons, with evening briefings and individual performance consultations

Race Training Camp

18 – 25 February 2017

Our race training camp in the beautiful Costa Blanca region of Spain, is perfect for all those wishing to gain early season form.

Days will be varied based on distance and terrain, using specific intervals to help you develop fitness, race technique and endurance before your season starts. We also provide seminars on the interval training methodology and using power and heart rate data as training indicators. As this camp is based early in the season we are not expecting everyone to be at peak fitness, but you will need a good base level as we cover lots of volume. You should also be mentally and physically prepared for sets of high intensity race training. We have 3 ability levels so everyone will be able to progress during the week.

Guides from Cycling Costa Blanca have the very best local knowledge to assist us in our planning so that our coached group rides cater for individual needs. There are lots of fantastic hills and excellent roads in the area that will certainly test the stronger riders but elevation is not that of the high Alps or Pyrenees, so perfect for early season training; we are able to perfect climbing and descending techniques along with the many professional peloton teams on the Col de Rattes, Col de Toudons and Confrides.

Our coaches offer feedback, both out on rides and back at the hotel, on where and how you can make improvements to hone your form.

Beginner Training Camp

25 March – 1 April 2017

Our beginner camp is for new riders who want to establish a personal benchmark in their fitness and skills, working out what they are good at that may benefit from further training and development. Our coaches will teach bike-handling techniques in a range of terrains, safe riding in groups, energy efficiency and interval training.

We also provide evening seminars on how to train effectively over a season along with easy bike maintenance and repair while out on the road. By the end of the camp you will be a more confident ‘club’ rider, perhaps considering a sportive or charity ride, time trial or road event. Above all, you will have had fun and know what you enjoy.

Provided you sign up at least 6 weeks prior to the camp, you’ll receive a individual training plan from one of our coaches for the week that includes personal activities for each day’s ride. For example, you may be on a 50km ride with emphasis on climbing efforts or maintaining 90 rpm for a specific time interval. It depends on your own aspirations and starting point; we plan for all needs and levels of experience. And of course, we offer the essence of every cyclist’s ride, café stops. Enjoy coffee and cake at local towns and villages en route, and pedal it off back to base!

Women Only Training Camp

29 April – 6 May 2017

Due to popular demand we’re now providing a women-specific training camp. What better way to train than to ride with like-minded women who want to enjoy riding, improve their fitness and meet new challenges.

This camp caters for all needs – from those who are not really sure of their abilities and want to learn new skills to those who want to find and set new goals in their cycling activities. We have plenty of male and female coaches to assist you on developing your abilities during this camp; you will receive lots of guidance on bike handling techniques and riding skills, complete steady miles on different terrains, receive guided interval training plus seminars on how to train effectively during the season and easy bike maintenance/repair.

  • Develop fitness, confidence, skills for longer independent rides back home
  • Improve your ability to climb, descend and corner on hills and flat stretches of road through beautiful coastlines, forests.
